Uzbekistan enter their maiden World Cup in a tough Group K alongside Portugal and Colombia, two established footballing nations. DR Congo, returning to the World Cup after 52 years, completed the group by winning the Intercontinental Playoff in March 2026.
The White Wolves are rated at 33/1 to win the group, but progression is far from impossible. The top two teams from each group qualify automatically for the Round of 32, and the eight best third-placed teams also advance. With 48 teams in 12 groups, the tournament structure is more forgiving than any previous World Cup. A strong showing against the playoff winner and a competitive performance against Colombia or Portugal could be enough to secure a third-place finish and a knockout round berth.
Khusanov's presence at Manchester City gives Uzbekistan genuine Premier League quality at the back, while Shomurodov's experience across Italian football provides a proven attacking threat. This squad is not here to make up the numbers.
